On Sept. 29, the House voted against the Emergency Economic Stabalization Act, which was the act bailing out the U.S financial system after the financial crisis of 2008. The vote was 228-205. Democrats voted 140-95 in favor of the bill, with Republicans voting 133-65 against it. Click below to see the roll call of that vote.

On October 1, the Senate passed the bill by a 74-25 margin. 15 Republicans, nine Democrats, and one Independent opposed the measure. Clikc below for the roll call of that vote.

On Oct. 3, the legislation was sent back to the House were it was re-voted on and passed by a 263-171 margin. Democrats voted 172 to 63 in favor of the legislation, while Republicans voted 108 to 91 against it; overall, 33 Democrats and 24 Republicans who had previously voted against the bill supported it on the second vote.
